Gidget’s Beach Baby Passes After Heroic Rescue Effort

Gidget’s Beach Baby tragically passed away early this morning following a valiant rescue effort by a team of dedicated cowboys. The beloved horse was first spotted stuck in the mud during a boat tour yesterday morning. Initial attempts freed two of her legs, and with combined efforts, she was finally pulled free and given water, grain, and hay.

Despite the cowboys’ tireless work—including moving her 100 yards by hand, transporting her via boat and trailer, and providing medical care with IV fluids and calcium—Beach Baby’s health deteriorated, and she passed peacefully at the medical barn.

Beach Baby leaves behind her 2023 colt, Triton, a promising future herd stallion, and her 2018 filly, Carlie Marie, still on the island. Her family, the cowboys, and supporters express gratitude for the heroic efforts and care provided until her final moments.

This heartfelt story highlights the courage, compassion, and commitment of those who work tirelessly to protect and care for the animals on the island.
