Reid Wiseman’s Wife Obituary & Death: NASA Astronaut’s Spouse Remembered

NASA astronaut Reid Wiseman, commander of the historic Artemis II lunar mission, recently honored his late wife, Carroll Taylor Wiseman, in a deeply emotional tribute during the mission’s lunar flyby.

Carroll Taylor Wiseman passed away on May 17, 2020, after a five‑year battle with cancer, leaving behind her husband, Reid, and their two daughters. A dedicated pediatric nurse and devoted mother, Carroll was widely remembered for her compassion and strength during her illness. Her obituary reflects a life of service and love that profoundly impacted her family and community.

In April 2026, while the Artemis II crew became the first humans to travel farther from Earth in more than 50 years, astronaut Jeremy Hansen proposed naming a previously unnamed lunar crater “Carroll” in her memory. The moment brought tears and a heartfelt embrace among the crew, including Wiseman. They also named another crater “Integrity” after their Orion spacecraft.

This touching gesture not only celebrates Carroll’s life but ensures her name will be forever associated with space exploration. NASA plans to submit the crater name to the International Astronomical Union for official recognition.
